So I painted my shoes. To just see the final result, scroll down to the bottom of this article. The painted shoes are posted there.  I gathered up a lot of paint, not knowing what I might use.  I knew that I would do a lot of mxing.  In the end, most of these were not used.

I chose a jumble of acrylic paints, most of which were not used.

Below is an image of the shoes after being washed and left to air dry.  I didn't want any fabric softener to interfere with the paint.  These shoes are at least twelve years old; hence the yellowing, I suppose.
Here are the shoes before they receive my magical touch.

To give myself a little direction, I next draw a loose design.
A design has been drawn on the shoes.

I have now begun to paint, and am not satisfied with the way it is going.  Of course, I will not abandon ship.
I am first beginning to paint the shoes.

Here is a little more progress:
Moving right along here.

And still further:
Gold and brown are now applied.

Eventually, this is what I have:
Here are the painted shoes.

And this:
Painted shoes from the side.

I painted a faux buckle and faux blue stones, among other things. I've covered the entire exterior of the shoes. I don't think I'm finished yet, though.  I'll probably add a little more detail, especially in the back.
If you have any questions about painting your own shoes, use the contact form at the right, and I'll get back to you.
